Everyone may read the public archive and forum. Confirmed members can post under a chosen public username. By participating, you agree to follow these guidelines.
Do
- Speak from firsthand experience when sharing a memory, and say when something came from another person.
- Give a source or enough detail for others to check a factual claim.
- Use clear subjects, approximate dates and place names when you know them.
- Credit photographers, families, archives and original publishers.
- Disagree with the claim without attacking the person.
- Flag uncertainty: “I remember,” “family tradition says,” and “I have not verified this” are useful labels.
Do not
- Post private addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, account details or other personal information about a living person.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, discriminate against or deliberately humiliate another person.
- Upload media you do not own and do not have permission to share.
- Encourage trespassing, vandalism, unsafe exploration or interference with graves, historic sites or active businesses.
- Present rumor, paranormal interpretation or speculation as established fact.
- Post spam, scams, unrelated promotion, fabricated evidence or repeated low-value content.
Moderation
Forum conversations may publish immediately for active members. Case-file material is reviewed separately. The Society may edit a label, move a discussion, close replies, withhold media, remove content or pause an account when needed to protect people, rights, safety or the usefulness of the archive.
Context matters. A good-faith mistake normally calls for clarification or correction. Evasion, repeated harm or serious abuse may lead to immediate removal or account suspension.
Rights, privacy and takedowns
If you appear in a photograph, own material displayed here, or believe a page exposes sensitive information, use the contact and takedown process. Include the page link and enough detail to identify the exact item. Do not post the complaint publicly if doing so would repeat private information.
